Conscious Grief Series 3

Day 13 with Mason Summit

Mason Summit

Mason Summit is a Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, producer, & multi-instrumentalist who has been performing & writing music for the better part of his 25 years. At an early age, Mason’s father, the late actor/musician Christopher Allport, taught him guitar basics & accompanied him at local Santa Monica open mic nights. Mason began writing & recording his own music in the wake of Christopher’s sudden 2008 death in an avalanche. From 9th grade through college, he produced & hosted Mason’s Noise Parlour, a quarterly young adult variety show, at Beyond Baroque in Venice. Mason took a gap year after high school to record 2016’s Gunpowder Tracks, for which No Depression labeled him a “pop prodigy.” While studying at the USC Thornton School of Music, Summit produced releases by Irene Greene and Jensen McCrae, and joined the rock band Jaw Talk. In 2020, he graduated USC and released the album Negative Space. Last year, Mason & Irene teamed up as The Prickly Pair, an angsty Americana duo. Their second single, “The Long Parade,” is available everywhere June 28.
